TOKIO KUMAGAI
Tokio Kumagai lived from 1948 to 1987, he attended the Bunka Fashion College (alumni including Yohji Yamamoto, Kenzo Takada and Tsumori Chisato), then worked in Paris for Castelbajac and Italy for Cerruti before opening his shoe boutique in 1980.
By using the painting style of artists such as Dalì and Pollock, he came up with a never before imagined style of shoes.
In the "Shoes for eat" series, using japanese plastic food sample production methods, he put hyperreal images of beef, red-bean rice and sundaes of shoes.
