scostumista: PFW-MY WISH LIST

My MFW's wish list was completely unbalanced, as I chose 22 dresses of Gucci collection by Alessandro Michele (and I had to stop myself, as I would have taken it all), I also focused on some other designers,excluding completely others, absent Cavalli as the return of Peter Dundas has certainly not revived the fortunes of the brand, (I did not like Dundas even when he was Pucci's creative director). But let's not digress. Let's focus on the Fashion Week that just ended in Paris, which for years used to be the one I longed for, and now has left me passionless, in the sense that there not was a collection for which I shouted "Eureka!" as I did for Gucci, but I chose some clothes randomly here and there, with some more obvious favourites. I preferred Iris Van Herpen. I always watched Van Herpen with the similar interest you have admiring a painting, her prints and her laser cuts attracted my attention as a piece of art, but I could never imagine them as wearable, now I look this collection with different eyes, she doesn't get distracted from her usually futuristic image, using hi-tech materials mixed with leather and natural fabrics, the silhouette are simpler and tapered, but these clothes are much easier to wear, and they deserve a place of honor on my wish list. Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is on the top as Iris Van Herpen, long dresses with sartorial cuts full of never predictable ruffles, romantic allure with Victorians references (as usual for the brand). I like Giambattista Valli, but more than his collection I like the one he designed for Moncler Gamme Rouge, somehow unexpected for a brand that has always gone in the direction of a sport-basic, and now turns it instead into a sporty / chic candid clothes in organza embroidered. Saint Laurent deserves a separate discussion, Slimane is out of competition, his rock/underground's mood has always fascinated me, I'm biased, it belongs to me, it is not a choice of clothes, it is a style's choice. Chanel, as usual, makes us travel, and this time in the strictest sense of the term, having set up the Grand Palais in an ultra chic airport, with colorful clothes, layered, ultra-modern outfits mixed with classic suits. Also Valentino takes us on a journey, and it does it through clothes inspired by Africa, tunics trimmed with fringe and feathers, ebony raffia and beads tribal embroidery. Special mention also to deconstructed and remixed dresses by Jacquemus and the more usual outfits by Chloe, Paul & Joe, Barbara Bui ... because party and departures (alas!) are not forever!

La mia lista dei desideri della MFW era completamente sbilanciata, ovvero 22 abiti della collezione disegnata da Alessandro Michele per Gucci (e mi sono data un freno, in realtà l'avrei voluta tutta), inoltre mi sono concentrata su alcuni stilisti escludendo completamente altri, assente Cavalli che con il ritorno di Peter Dundas non ha certo risollevato le sorti del marchio, (Dundas non mi piaceva neanche quando era direttore creativo da Pucci). Ma non divaghiamo. Concentriamoci sulla Fashion Week che si è appena conclusa a Parigi, che per anni è stata quella che ho più atteso, e che ora mi ha lasciato un po' freddina, nel senso che non c'è stata una collezione per cui ho gridato al capolavoro, come ho fatto per Gucci, ma ho scelto qualche abito random qua e là, con qualche predilizione più evidente. Ho prediletto Iris Van Herpen. La van Herpen l'ho sempre guardata con interesse come si ammira un quadro, le sue stampe e i suoi tagli laser attiravano la mia attenzione come un'opera d'arte, ma senza mai immaginare di poterli indossare; questa collezione però la guardo con occhi diversi, non si distoglie dalla sua immagine futuristica, utilizza materiali hi-tec mixati a pelle e tessuti naturali, le silhouette sono più semplici e allungate, ma questi vestiti sono molto più facili da portare, e meritano il posto d'onore nella mia lista dei desideri. Sarah Burton per Alexander McQueen svetta al pari della Herpen, abiti lunghi dai tagli sartoriali pieni di rouches mai scontate e dall'allure romantico con richiami vittoriani (as usual per il brand). Giambattista Valli mi piace, ma più che la sua collezione mi piace quella che ha disegnato per Moncler Gamme Rouge, inaspettata per per un marchio che è sempre andato in una direzione sportiva-basic, e che invece lo trasforma in uno sporty/chic con abiti in organza candidi e ricamati. Saint Laurent merita un discorso a parte, Slimane è fuori concorso, il suo mood rock, underground mi affascina da sempre, sono di parte, mi appartiene, non è una scelta di abiti, è una scelta di stile. Chanel come al solito ci fa viaggiare, e questa volta nel senso più stretto del termine, avendo allestito il Gran Palais in un areoporto ultra chic, con abiti colorati, stratificati, ultramoderni, mixati ai classici tailleur. Anche Valentino ci accompagna in un viaggio, e lo fa attraverso abiti ispirati all'Africa, tuniche bordate di frange e piume con ricami tribali di ebano, rafia e perline. Menzione speciale anche agli abiti destrutturati e remixati di Jacquemus e agli outfits più quotidiani di Chloè, Paul& Joe, Barbara Bui... perchè party e partenze (ahimé!) non sono forever!
