DIDIER LUDOT-THE KING OF VINTAGE COUTURE

The Didier Ludot boutique was created in 1975, he found a retail space at the Palais Royal, a sleepy garden in the center of the city framed by a colonnade, nestled beside a number of interesting shops along a covered arcade. He opened his shop at 24 Galerie de Montpensier, and soon elegant Parisiennes began to call him to help clean their closets. In Didier Ludot’s stores everything is an original, each dress a story in itself. Even though the attire isn’t new, don’t expect second-hand prices. Couture is still couture, and when you realize that today a woman’s tailored day suit from one of the French houses of haute couture (Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent,Givenchy, etc.). For more of 40 years, Didier Ludot has been dressing the world’s chicest women in the castoffs of the previous generation’s chicest women. His namesake shop is the go-to destination for museum-quality vintage haute couture, much of his clientele is professional: stylists dressing celebrities for the red carpet, couture houses building their archives and designers looking for inspiration. Instead to view some little black dresses, you must step across the gardens to Monsieur Ludot’s other store, La Petite Robe Noire, it containing both vintage couture and Didier Ludot’s own designs.
If you enjoy shopping for clothes and have an appreciation for vintage wear with impeccable style, be sure to seek out Didier Ludot, the king of vintage couture.
