The show is a "liquid journey"through different states of matter: crude oil, that streams from the deep, dark, underground bowels of the Earth; human sweat, which is triggered by stress, anxiety and physical activity; golden mirror, which is the celebratory altar of the self.
The wall sculptures have all the same abstract shape, which is produced by an authentication code on a screen touch display of a digital screen.
"The New Oil", it refers to the collection of information data as the new power and valuable asset of computation technology. The password that gives shapes to the sculptures repeats in the golden mirror metal series titled "It's all about me". Self-absorption becomes symptomatic in our society where individual self-promotion is the norm to success.
"Swim in your sweat" is the free-standing, methacrylate series of sculptures with the images of a transparent liquid that have a slightly claustrophobic dimension because it seems to encapsulate the human body of the viewer (they have been modulated on the shape of the bodies of the artists themselves). The turbulent liquid forms waves and air bubbles bringing to the surface a reflection on the immateriality and the dispersion of digital labour.
Those sculptures force us to stop in front of a digital display screenshot without light, without knowing who is on the other side to control it.
#Burn Burn Burn è la seconda mostra personale del duo Pennacchio Argentato presentata alla Galleria Accappella di Napoli ed è incentrata sul tema del capitalismo digitale.
La mostra accompagna il visitatore in una sorta di 'viaggio liquido', un percorso attraverso diverse forme della materia: il petrolio grezzo che scorre nelle viscere profonde; il sudore umano provocato da stress, ansia e fatica; lo specchio dorato, altare celebrativo dell'io.
Le sculture a parete hanno tutte la stessa forma astratta, scaturita dal gesto quotidiano della mano sul display toch screen per il codice di autenticazione.
Il titolo di questa serie è "The New Oil" e si riferisce alla raccolta di dati informativi come nuovo potere economico. La password di autenticazione, che dà la forma alle sculture, si ripete anche nella serie di opere in metallo dorato "It's all about me". L'egocentrismo è un aspetto sintomatico della nostra società in cui l'autoproduzione individuale è la regola per il successo.
"Swim in your sweat", è la serie di sculture in metacrilato autoportante con impresse immagini di un liquido trasparente che nel ribollire porta alla luce una riflessione sull'immaterialità, la dissoluzione e la dispersione del lavoro digitale. Le dimensioni e la forma di queste sculture sembrano voler inglobare il corpo umano del visitatore (sono state modulate sulla forma dei corpi degli artisti stessi), creando una dimensione percettiva leggermente claustrofobica.
Queste sculture ci costringono a fermarci di fronte ad uno screenshot di uno schermo senza luce, senza sapere sapere chi ci sia dall'altra parte a controllarlo.
