The love of fashion for leather is increasingly becoming the controversial point of the debate on sustainability.
In recent years, many luxury brands such as Prada, Burberry, Gucci, Chanel, Phillip Lim, Coach, Diane Von Furstenberg, Miu Miu, DKNY, Michael Kors, Versace, Armani have said that they have stopped using fur. California passed a law banning the manufacture and sale of new fur-containing products across the state. Queen Elizabeth has announced that the new clothes made for her will only contain synthetic fur. But the use of leather is still widespread in the fashion industry. Although we certainly have a long way to go before we can say that fashion is sustainable, the data show that things are improving, and probably in a few years we will only use vegan eco-leather with low environmental impact, Stella McCrtney was the pioneer of ethical fashion and it seems that other designers are slowly following her example. Meanwhile, take a look at the outfit below, because despite everything they are really beautiful.
